Bingo is (yet another) game of chance. There is little to no skill involved, and may appeal to lovers of Slots, Keno, and Sweepstakes. Each player chooses a card, or more often, multiple cards (thrity is not unusual in the least, as the more cards you possess, they more you play to win.) The “cards,” are either physical cardboard pieced when playing in person, or electronic representations when playing online- 5x5 matrices of numbers ranging from 1 to 75. To win bingo, the player must be in possession of a card that contains numbers drawn making a particular winning pattern on the form. The most traditional pattern being a straight line of 5 drawn numbers. When this is achieved, the player must call “Bingo” to alert the other players of their win. When it has been confirmed by the caller of the game, the prize is secured, and a new game begins. ![]() The numbers drawn are done so at random. A non-player designated as the caller chooses a numbered ball at random from a jumbled container of similarly numbered balls, and announces the chosen number to all players. Those players with said number on one (or many) of their cards will mark it, sometimes with chips, sometimes with ink. Online, often the option to mark it is optional, and may be done automatically by the computer, or online program. The only element of skill in the game is the ability to scan card(s) quickly for said number to find a win more quickly than your competitors. Although traditional Bingo designates a win by a pattern of 5-across in any direction, games can have rules specific unto themselves, and in a casino environment, different patterns can hold a greater (or lesser) win. Additional patterns include a Black-out (a.k.a. Full Card, or Cover-All) which would indicate all spots have been covered on the card. Bingo Online is a simple game, and the same is true for the online versions available. In addition to the option of having the computer find drawn numbers automatically, many sites offer “Best Card Highlighting or Sorting” where it is made clear to all players who is the closest to winning based on numbers already drawn. Chat options are also popular additions, lending to the sense of community one would find in a traditional game. |
