Though a number of reports throughout the online gambling community’s message boards claim that the upcoming merger hasn’t been nearly as clear in its player communications as perhaps it should be, the fact that Everleaf and Universal will soon be joining forces is somehow making its way to internet casino portals. The merger will hopefully result in an increase of player liquidity- a plus for internet gambling companies and their bottom lines, as well as open up the action to new participants on the floor, bringing fresh faces to the competition. The pair are also considering adding a third party to the mix, though some in the online gambling industry are failing to see why. While the Universal Poker Network brings a host of business from the European market to merge with the US-facing Everleaf Gaming Network, it could be difficult to see just what Victory Poker (formally known as Doyle Brunson Poker) Network could possibly bring to the table. For now, the third network will join on with a domain extension of .net, until an agreement can be decided upon. The new network has yet to be officially branded. Still without a name, the new network will have a number of attractive elements built in, such as their acceptance of US players, in spite of the UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act). Multiple currencies and languages will be supported, and the network will host a wider range to deposit options to accommodate more players’ needs. The overall look of the software will also have received an upgrade. The piece of the puzzle that the merger duo seems to have forgotten was proper notice to players. Whether it was fear that it could cost them business, or a absentmindedness, many player complained that they were not properly informed of the merger, creating unneeded confusion. A concession for the oversight, at least from Everleaf, has been made, with a spokesman apologizing: “No emails were sent out regarding this, as the date for the merge could have and was delayed. We did have a pop up notice on our poker room for the last seven days to ensure everyone was made aware of this merger." |
