It seems that the online casino Poker Stars.com is all about the positive media this week as yet another tidbit on the company hits the internet gambling news stream. The latest set of official numbers for the growth and perversion of the online poker market has been released by the aggregator Poker Scout, which determined without a shadow of doubt that Poker Stars still dominates the sector. Their daily average of 32,600 cash game players was well above competitors’ numbers, with Full Tilt poker coming in at a far second with just 16,600 logging in per day to play. While Full Tilt’s online casino has barely been able to drum up half the business that Poker Stars sees in a day, the other ‘contenders’ are more than behind on the trend. Party Poker, part of the online gambling group Party Gaming, logged just 5,400 players each day on average, while Playtech’s iPoker Network saw only 4,850. In spite of the disappointing disparity in numbers, online poker on the whole is getting significantly healthier, according to Poker Scout’s estimations. After three weeks with lower numbers, the total traffic rates are back on the rise, showing an optimistic trend for online gambling in rough economic waters. The Cake Poker network suffered the loss of two internet casinos last month – those of Players Only and Sportsbook.com – but seem to have recovered well enough to overtake both the Boss Media and Microgaming poker networks in player popularity, jumping up to eighth place in the rankings. Tokwiro Enterprises’ Cereus Network jumped to sixth place, pushing Everest Poker to their new position at number seven. Way down the list, recognizable brands such as Everleaf and Universal popped up in slot number eighteen, and Pacific Poker earned themselves an honorable mention in the stat report for their increase in traffic by an impressive 25 percent. To compare, the dominating Poker Stars has managed to increase their traffic by 43 percent while desperate runner-up Full Tilt is striving to catch them, pushing the limits with a growth by 68 percent compared to last year. |
