Though there is never really a low period for the online gambling industry, with each quarter bringing different issues and challenges, the last six months have been particularly challenging for the UK internet gambling body, the Remote Gambling Association. Their last half-year has been spent primarily addressing concerns regarding commercial and integrity issues, especially as they apply to the sports betting world, as well as greyhound and horse racing. The solutions to the current issues have been compiled into a report developed by the Remote Gambling Association, a piece that is planned to be unveiled at the upcoming Betting Show at Earls Court. The report is a direct response to an increase in the attention paid to the corruption of the professional sports world, largely blamed on the growth and popularity of the sports betting division of the online casino world. A number of European Union member states as well as sporting organizations have continuously called for change and action, with some going so far as to ban betting on sports to protect the integrity of the sports.

In response, the RGA has pledged to cooperate with a review, designed to find ways outside of prohibition that national and international sporting organizations might find appealing. The consultation has been opened up to all groups and parties that have an interest in the issue, with four questionnaires developed: one for sporting organizations, another for government bodies and regulatory organizations; a third for non-RGA online gambling operators and trade associations; and the final for ‘other’ interested groups. The results will be published and released to the online gambling community in the near future.

"It is our intention to identify ways in which the relationship with national and international sporting organizations might usefully be developed,” said a spokesman for the RGA. “The main international sporting organizations, such as the IOC and FIFA, have been approached to respond to the consultation, as have all of the EU’s Member States and a number of other interested parties.”
