A new network is has been launched in the US, specifically designed to address the needs of the American online gambling market for state lotteries’ use. The new company, called Mobile Lottery LLC will bring the only national form of legal gambling to mobile devices, bridging the growing world of internet gambling with that of state lotteries. The head of the venture is none other than Brent Wilkins, the former managing director for Cantor Fitzgerald LP. The need is clear: as the recession continues, more states are looking to the online gambling industry in whatever way they can to provide an option for more tax funds, making up for the ever-growing deficits in the budgets. A regulated lottery system that would bring the platform to the convenience of mobile gaming, taking full advantage of the technological advances in wireless networking is a keen plan, sure to be an interest to any number of states. Current lottery revenues average out to about $65 million, with the mobile offering jumping that number an expected ten percent in its first year. Cost efficiency for distribution is also a key point on the new product launch. And Americans do like to play the lottery, with the most recent statistics estimating that as many as two-thirds of the country’s population playing; 23 percent of those who say they play do so on a regular basis. Mobile Lottery will appeal to just that demographic, more than 208 million US mobile subscribers qualifying for the service. Ages will be verified through software, as will jurisdictional restrictions. The new program allows the Mobile Lottery firm to track activity, as well as restrict, limit and control irresponsible online gambling. "Our goal is to create the number one brand in the mobile lottery space using my expertise gained from launching the first real-time mobile trading application for the U.S. Treasuries with Sprint-Nextel in 2005," said Wilkins, CEO of Mobile Lottery LLC. "New technological advances in mobile operator networks and mobile smart phone devices now allow for both a legally compliant and exciting game experience for the wireless lottery player in the 42 U.S. state's that choose to participate.” |
