As the month of February begins, yet another contract has been signed between online gambling companies with interest in growing in the tentative success of the internet casino world. The latest merge, however, comes from two less-known companies, bringing interests together from the United Kingdom to China. The UK-based Betex Group has signed an exclusive five year agreement with the Nanjing Welfare Lottery Management Center, a partnership aimed at launching a new retail lottery program across the Jiangsu Province, and focusing most heavily on the capital city of Nanjing. The contract is not a new concept for Betex, which has already completed similar sport lottery contracts in neighboring provinces, like Guangdong, Guizhou, and Hebei. The agreement signed by the two parties will allow Betex the exclusive right to promote and sell all Welfare Lottery products from a variety of venues; the majority will be kiosk-style, set up in supermarkets, local retailers and other point-of-sale locations. The kiosks will have a menu of gambling products for locals to choose from, including but not limited to scratch cards, high frequency draws and even computerized lottery games. The new project is set to commence in early February, report a number of sources from the online gambling news community, with the launch of 20 kiosk stations by the end of a six month period. By the completion of 2010, the number of stations is aimed at 150, bringing gambling products to a barren market, as China continues to censor internet gambling, and ban betting in most forms. Distribution agreements have been signed with premier retail brand stores as well in Nanjing. "I'm delighted that we have secured our first agreement in the welfare lottery sector in such a high profile city,” said the CEO for Betex, Jeremy Longley. “This is a significant and exciting deal for the Company and demonstrates the strength of our brand in China. I believe we have identified a retail strategy that combines two essential ingredients - short-term revenue generation and profitability, with long-term scope for roll-out and growth.” |
