Though the majority of the online gambling industry is in agreement that the eventual legalization of internet casinos could very well find itself fruition in the near future, three former executives are so confident that 2010 will see the overturning of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act that they’ve already established a US –based firm, poised to process transactions as soon as word comes through. The UC Group Ltd has made clear their position on the legalization issue, having been a staunch advocate for years, but this week’s launch of their US subsidiary Secure Trading, is being questioned by even advocates. The trio, Chris Thom, Ted Friedman, and TJ Sharkey all used to work for Mastercard, one of the American credit card companies that has been denying the processing of online gambling transactions since the passage of the UIGEA. Their new project in Secure Trading will cooperate with a UK payments processor, and is already prepared to be the first to support the new legalized industry when lawmakers realize the issue’s inevitability. They have assured players that their priority will remain to provide safe financial services and the secure processing of transactions, while complying with all applicable regulations and consumer protection laws that the US might enforce. The gentlemen bring to the initiative an array of financial experiences bound to come in handy. Chris Thom will stand as the Chairman, coming to Secure Tradings from his role at Mastercard as chief risk officer and 11 years of experience. Ted Friedman will be the chief operating officer, with both Mastercard New York and Europay International (Belgium) on his resume. Finally TJ Sharkey will head up customer sales and support, relying on his 17 years with MC, most recently as the head of Global Merchants and Acquirers. "Momentum for regulating Internet gambling in the U.S. has been building for some time," said Thom. "As Congress prepares to take the final step, SecureTrading Inc.'s turnkey system is primed to enable our customers to go live the moment Internet gambling is regulated." The offerings for Secure Tradings include player registration and verification, as well as services to protect against underage gambling, money laundering, and fraud. |
