continued from Breach of Security - 1 His current ‘employer,’ DSS Enterprises is run by a man named Dinitha Sibasinghe, who claims he has no idea what ‘Daniel’ is talking about. The Sri-Lankan-born IT expert, designs websites, and runs a wedding planning business with British wife, Charlene King. Though his companies are wholly under his control, as a sole-trader, he denies any involvement or even knowledge of a breach of security with the online gambling company. His client list includes the names of Ladbrokes and the UK Ministry of Defense, though he says he only keeps in contact with anyone at the internet casino for social purposes. "I have no access to any Ladbrokes database or any other information. I provided analytical services to them for 18 months during 2007 and 2008,” claimed Sibasinghe. "Unless my name, my signature, my fingerprint is on anything, it has nothing to do with me. I had a call from a senior person at Ladbrokes this morning. I did not take the call. I don't know what they are ringing me about." Though The Mail was able to string ‘Daniel’ along to gather information for the authorities in regards to his possible connection with the online gambling company’s security system, he has since cut off communication, ending the negotiations for the purchase of the files and warning the press group against going to the authorities. Similar news agencies are warned against receiving similar offers; Daniel was tracked with the email address ‘theinsidescoopuk.’ "We have been informed that a person connected to our organization has offered certain details from a customer database to The Mail on Sunday,” said the head of public relations for Ladbrokes, Ciaran O’Brien. “This is a criminal act and we are working with the police, the ICO and the newspaper to identify and apprehend the culprit. We are in the process of contacting customers to apologize for this breach in security and to reassure them that everything is being done to protect their personal information. Importantly, we do not believe that customer accounts or banking data can be accessed." |
