Yet another player has been made a
millionaire with the largest win to date being made by one professional
poker player. Roberto Romanello, aged 34 years, is a Welsh player who
actually broke down after his significant first place win at this week’s
European Poker Tour Prague Main Event, hosted by the online gambling
company Poker Stars.net. The win was well earned, culminating in a heads
up against Emiliano Bono, and allowed Romanello to truly celebrate his
€64,000 win. The win takes Romanello’s total career cash winnings up and over the $1.5 million mark, a sweet victory following a disappointing sixth place final win at the European Poker Tour in Copenhagen earlier this year. It became apparent just how much he had wanted the win when Romanello laid down his final cards, winning the game, and breaking down into an emotional pile. The €64,000 is his largest single win to date. The Prague Main Event attracted 563 entrants, each buying in at a price of €5,300. The final total generated a prize pool worth €2,730,550, from which 80 different poker players cashed out. Romanello took first, with his heads up competitor Emiliano Bono earning €435,000 with his second place win. The rest of the final table was flushed out with names that are both new and well known to the online gambling community, with the likes of Marcin Horecki, Peter Skripka, Marco Leonzio, Jan Bendik, Manuel Bevand, and Roberto Nulli following suit in largest wins; Nulli walked with just €54,550 – but still a good return on his €5,300 investment. |
