The PPA, Poker Players Alliance, has elected a new, and remarkably qualified woman to the role of State Director, reintroducing one of the industries own in a different capacity. The assignment of Dianna Donofrio to the position of State Director for Nevada, one of the most active states for PPA activity, comes out of a difficult choice to a successful end.

Donofrio was elected to the spot from an eager group of more than 1,000 applicants. She, however, had the resume to back up her assertion that she’d be the best for the job. The PPA, which is an organization solely dedicated to the online poker movement, will depend on Donofrio to use her 25 year career in the gambling and casino industries for their benefit. Donofrio began her work in the gaming sector by working at the Bicycle Club in Los Angeles, California before moving on to Special Projects Manager for the then-blossoming tournament stops in the US, the Legends of Poker.

Other stops in her speckled career include working as the Satellite Tournament Director for the Commerce Casino, and then for the Four Queens (Classic). The experience she gained as organizer for satellite tournaments for poker granted her more than ten years in the arena. It eventually led her to the opportunity of working for the ultimate poker body: The World Series of Poker, as Satellite Director. Her work under Jack McClelland while the tournament was still being held at Binion’s lasted til ’05 when she transferred to the Rio. Before she left the WSOP, she spent some time as Payout manager to round out her resume. In recent months, Donofrio has organized a number of charity events including such accomplishments as Montel Williams’ MS Poker Gala held in New York City as well as the SPCA Tournament hosted by Jennifer Harman.

Chairman for the PPA, Alfonse D’Amato made clear in his statement, his security in having made the best choice: “The PPA is fortunate to have over one million dedicated members, and even more fortunate that Dianna is one of them. As Nevada’s PPA State Director, Dianna will help strengthen the PPA’s efforts both nationally and at the state level. We are proud to have her as part of the PPA team.”

Donofrio’s new duties include notifying the PPA Board of any activities that would apply to poker, and the online poker efforts. She will also be in charge of recruiting support through membership and legislation in her state, and acting as spokesperson for the PPA in Nevada.
