According to some sources, there is speculation that Party Gaming is considering pleading guilty to charges in New York related to violations of the Wire Act. The court case was expected to be heard this week, with some opining that Anurag Dikshit will appear in person to enter a guilty plea, as read in a Financial Times report.

Contrarily, official respondents to the Financial Times’ suppositions say that no guilty plea is intended, as the internet gambling group Party Gaming pls still intends to fight the allegations against them. The firm, based out of Gibraltar, has repeated its intention of negotiating terms with the US Department of Justice in order to eradicate the dirty record Party Gaming has acquired in relation to US-based activities, all pre-dating the 2006 UIGEA. Though lawyers for the defendants acquiesced that negotiations were going well, and could be close to a close, no additional details on the terms were given.

Other rumors have that Dikshit has already agreed to a deal with the Justice Department in the amount of $200 million to pay for Party Gaming’s sins, but again, the tales were squashed by representatives for the company, clarifying that if a deal was struck, it would not be anywhere near $200 mil, rather it would be “significantly below.” Notwithstanding, it will be interesting to note whether Dikshit appears in court to respond to the accusations, as he puts himself at risk for up to 2 years in prison if he reenters American soil. The only thing sources can agree on is that Dikshit, and corresponding Party Gaming, will admit to violating the Wire Act in some manner, and have agreed to work with, rather than against, the Dept of Justice to the best of their negotiating abilities.
