The popular online poker network name Poker Stars has decided to pump not only the competition, but also the celebrity excitement for their Caribbean Adventure live poker tournament next year. Combining an opportunity to play against their official celebrity sponsor for a chance to win a seat for the land based tournament is a fun twist on a classic game, and a sure way to catch attention for both the online competition as well as the live game! The Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure is scheduled for January and the main event hosts a $10,000 buy-in. The current promotion hosts an opportunity for seven Poker Stars players to play against the famous Boris Becker, who acts as a sponsor for the site and is known for is world renowned tennis playing. The marketing tournament will be designed in a heads up format- but also will be in Battleship style, meaning that players are seated in the same room, but play online poker on laptops. It’s a style of poker that brings advantages from both sides, as Becker put it: “Battleship poker gives you all the fast play luxuries of online poker, but also allows you to look your opponent in the eye. It's an exciting game to play and I'm really looking forward to competing against these players.” The winner of the heads up match gets a trip to the Bahamas for the week long tourney, as well as a free seat in the main event. The following players have so far been selected to go up against Becker: Michel Dion (Quebec, Canada), Joshua Miloy (Oley, Pennsylvania, US), Itsik Oknin (Ottawa, Canada) and Keith Anderson (also Quebec, Canada.) Three more players will be selected to play, and 40 additional seats are available for events during the Caribbean Adventure, some with as low as a $650 buy-in. |
