The online gambling commission for the United Kingdom has decided to make a contribution to how new online gambling fans prepare, and make their bets responsibly. With the leisure activity of online casinos in decline due to the economic struggles around the world, it is more important than ever for online gambling companies to recruit new membership. To assist, the UK commission has developed a set of recommendations and guidelines for those players new to the online industry that can be found at http://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/UploadDocs/publications/Document/Online Gambling.pdf.

The guide is not necessarily the first of it's kind; it's the magnitude and reliability of the source that makes the new site newsworthy. Never before has the Commission felt the need to advise gamblers, given that their jurisdiction lies instead with regulation and legislation as it applies to the EU. A spokesperson for the Commission put it this way: "It is sometimes difficult to know who you are gambling with when online, as operators can offer various products on their website and these may not be regulated by us. Gambling websites will offer different levels of protection and consumers should satisfy themselves that they are content to gamble on a particular website before doing so."

The site does however differ from most found from third party websites on online casinos in that it's especially thorough. A wide number of topics are covered in the piece, such as
•    An article speaking to the importance if knowing details about the gambling site operators you use. Confirming that a site is regulated properly, and with whom is important. Some companies can be licensed in multiple areas; the article speaks to how you find out where.
•    Another giving examples of means to contact the company. Trustworthy sites usually openly publish email, phone, chat, and other ways to contact them.
•    Another section is regarding complaints procedures for online casinos, bookmakers and sports gambling. Players should know what actions to take should a problem arise, both with the corp. and through consumer protection organization groups like COBRA.
•    An article on researching comments made by other members of the casino. A lot can be learned from users of the site you're interested in, though keep in mind that some feedback may be commissioned by the gambling company, so if it's all gushing praise, be wary.
•    A dictionary to assist in reading and understanding the terms and conditions associated with most casino contracts. Players should always know exactly what they're signing up for.
•    Privacy practices are absolutely essential to research. With your personal information, including credit card or bank account numbers at their disposal, responsible gamers want to make sure all the data is kept safe, secure, and encrypted properly.

Other information in regards to help for problem gambling, and fair gaming practices are also included. There is a disclaimer that the responsibility always lies with the player in terms of choosing a secure casino.” You should exercise the same caution when gambling online as you would when purchasing any goods or services via the Internet," it reads. "If you are uncertain about any aspect of online gambling then you should think seriously about whether to go ahead."
