The stalemate in regards to the issue could well continue until votes commence in November, with neither side willing to give in: Patrick adamant in his refusal to allow slot parlors to operate in his state, and the politicians insisting through their votes that the bill should pass, if for no other reason than the tax monies it will create. The slot games would be limited in their availability, only at the three new land-based casinos, and installed in the state’s existing two racetracks. It was voted into approval in both the House of Representatives, as well as the Senate, both of which will now have to take a second look to decide if its something that they are willing to come back into session to re-debate, this time, deciding on Patrick’s amended version, sans slots. "The governor is killing major legislation over 1 000 slot machines," said House Speaker Robert DeLeo, an enthusiastic supporter for the bill.
