The announcement of a jackpot win at one of the larger poker rooms this week has gotten some extra attention this week, as the name of the winner is causing some to wonder about the legitimacy of the win. According to a press release from 888.com, one of the most powerful internet gambling brands in the world, the big win was hit that their poker room, by a man by the name of Anh-Tuan.

The winner was identified as a South Australian who hit the jackpot with his pub league playing, a poker fan in the most true sense. He managed to time his win quite well, striking the Royal Jackpot at its highest ever, hitting it and winning $190,000 on their site during a game of $1 / $2 No Limit Hold’Em, achieving the break-through with a Royal Flush of Spades.

What is interesting to note is the identity of the winner, with some online casino forums hosting posts postulating whether it could be just a coincidence or not… as Anh-Tuan is also the name of a poker tournament director who just happens to work for 888poker.com, the same site on which this jackpot was won. Even more interesting is that the Anh-Tuan who works for 888 just happens to live in Adelaide… Australia, the same nation where the jackpot was struck.

The online gambling site is either unaware of the coincidence, or it’s a different person entirely, but that hasn’t stopped the wondering from showing up on internet gambling forums. "When we established the jackpot on 888poker we hoped for big wins for the players and we are excited to see our first 190 000-plus jackpot,” said Gareth Edwards, the director of strategy for 888. “We congratulate Anh-Tuan on his victory and look forward to the next set of big winners and jackpots."
