A change of power is taking place at one
of the world’s most powerful online gambling companies this week with the
announcement that Lee Richardson has handed in his resignation from being
the chief executive officer for the internet gambling firm Boyle Sports.
The fact that he stepped into the role just five months ago have some in
the online gambling community wondering if his cited reasons of ‘family
matters,’ may be the only contributing factors as to why such a leader
would give up a lucrative and powerful position. According to a statement by an anonymous company spokesperson, though a replacement will be some time in coming, for now, the job responsibilities will be taken on by the founder and managing director of the company, John Boyle. Its an easy fix, as Boyle already makes sure to know of all facets of the company’s operation, and is said to be a very hands-on managing director. Richardson will be leaving at the end of the month (August) with Boyle taking over for the interim at that point. Richardson had already acted as a chief executive officer with fellow internet gambling company Chartwell Technology, so he knew what the role entailed before he accepted the CEO position. Prior to Richardson taking over in March, the chief executive had been Daniel Majoney, who abruptly left the position with few reasons and little notice, giving the job up after just five years in the hot seat. One reason some are saying could be behind the departure is the difficult commute that Richardson had subscribed to, leaving his family at home in England to make his way to Boyle Sports’ main offices in Ireland. |
