Yet another online gambling company has
made an announcement this week, confirming their intention to expand
operations. The latest comes from the land and internet casino company
Rank plc, known best in the United Kingdom for their ambitious operations
– a reputation which will stand firm once more as they announce an
expansion of significant size. According to a press release by the
internet gambling firm, they will be growing by a third in the coming
months, with more than £50 million to be spent on the project. Most of the money will be going towards expanding their land-based casinos offerings, as their online gambling services are already soaring with success. At least five new casinos throughout northern and central England are in plans to be built, all of which should be completed and open for business in the next two years, if everything goes well. The cost for construction and the like has been estimated at £23 million. So long as it goes well, another five casinos are on the back burner’s plans, to be rolled out following the launch of the initial set. According to a spokesperson’s statement to the publication Mail On Sunday, the company already operates 35 casinos as well as 103 bingo halls, meaning the growth of another 10 casinos will be a solid third of their current operating power. Rank is also associated with a number of online gambling interests and contracts, which likely are providing them with the financial stability for such an ambitious expansion. One of the significant influences for the timing of such a move comes from some of the new law changes in favor of casinos. In Newham, for example, the government has updated licensing standards to allow for eight new large, and eight new small casinos – contracts that Ian Burke, Rank’s CEO, has already said that they are after. The new regulations also allow for more machines, as the old laws would permit only 20 slot machines, while the new ones permit for 150. |
