An acquisition has been made and
announced by Win2Day this week, confirming to the rest of the online
gambling industry that yes, in fact, they were looking to get their hands
on the rights to Rabcat, and have been rather successful in their pursuit
to taking on the brand. Win2Day is the internet gambling division of the
land-based company Casinos Austria; Rabcat is a software development firm
that specializes in 3-dimensional video gaming. The deal was signed just this week, confirmed by both parties, though the details of the agreement have not yet been disclosed. The price tag for Win2Day’s acquisition of Rabcat, for example, has not been revealed, in spite of multiple inquiries. Though the brand name of Rabcat may not be immediately familiar, their resume is rather impressive, having worked with a number of huge contributors and representatives of the online casino world. Based out of Vienna, and therefore very convenient to the home base for Win2Day, the company Rabcat was launched in 2001, and has since worked with some very major firms such as Disney Interactive, Microsoft, and Atari. They employ somewhere around 30 staff members, and coming under the Win2Day umbrella will bring them more fully into the online gambling sector, from which their senior producer came from. Ben Spiss is his name, and prior to taking on such a hefty leadership position with Rabcat, Spiss had acted as an online casino product manager for OnGame and Bwin Interactive. When Rabcat moved in to work with Bwin, he made a career change, taking his experience in three dimensional graphics, mini-games and a penchant for avatars with him. He has since been acting as the head of specialized gambling at the company, a resource that will no doubt serve Win2Day well in the transitional period ahead. |
