A myriad of new online gambling markets
are erupting now a days, with one of the biggest coming out of South
America. The potential for success there is clear in the numbers: South
America is home to more than 192 million people, and the money from other
parts of the world is apparently flowing in at a healthy rate, as this
year’s GDP is expected to up to 6 percent. As it is one of the most
enticing developing markets on the globe, it should come as no surprise,
then, that online gambling companies are becoming more than just a little
interested in expanding their operations in South America. Even better, industry observers note without argument that the internet is strong and available for many of the nations’ inhabitants. Unlike India and some other regions of the world, where Internet access can vary greatly, web businesses are doing well in South America, priming the territory for internet casino action. The growth of the e-commerce division of business is largely attributed to the consolidation of the middle class, with more than 17.6 million people actively utilizing online services such as internet shopping and the like on a regular basis. Brazil’s residents in particular, love the internet, as they have resigtered more than 68 million users for the web. It’s a statistic that is well ahead of both Spain and the United Kingdom in Europe, which have approximately 28 million and 51 million internet users, respectively. Another report by e-Bit Consultants found that there was a growth of 30 percent for purchases made over the web in 2009 compared to the previous year, showing growth and a huge potential for the online gambling market. Transactions and sales totaled more than US $6 billion for the period. The number tallied show that 26 percent of all internet users in Brazil had made purchases online. |
