A sponsorship deal has been struck for
the Leeds United Football Club this week, with the organization announcing
in a press release that they have made a deal with internet gambling
company Sportingbet. The online casino group is actually known most for
their sports betting platforms, making them a good match to sponsor the
Leeds team. The announcement was confirmed with Sportingbet, which
clarified that an agreement had been made for the next three years, set to
start at the beginning of the 2010 / 2011 Power Championship season. This is no where near the first sponsorship deal for Sportingbet, however, which is one online gambling group that well knows the value of marketing to a specific demographic. They already have an impressive sponsorship portfolio that goes past just the football world, and includes teams for rugby, and cricket as well. The newest deal does, however, give Sportingbet exclusive rights to advertising on prime Elland Road property, no small thing unto itself. Also, they will soon take ownership of all the match day betting, as well as become the gambling partner for the local sports broadcasting channel, Yorkshire Radio. The partnership will also act as a key piece in Sportingbets desire to expand in the region, as they have said that they intend to use their connections to the team for match tickets and other hospitality prizes for their customer base. Primarily, however, the goal will be to connect with the team’s well established fan base. , similarly to the way they did with the Wolverhampton Wanderers. Their sponsorship deal with that company was focused primarily on shirts, and still resulted in an increase in online casino traffic flow, as well as player registrations.
