The online poker community is blowing up this week with additional news coming from one of the strongest partnerships in the internet gambling industry, as Microgaming and 888.com team up to strengthen their poker offerings. Both firms are already huge powerhouses in their own right, and 888’s business-to-business subsidiary, Dragonfish, has all but ruled the press releases this summer, winning contact after contract with a slew of poker websites. The most recent news comes once again courtesy of Dragonfish’s aggressive pursuit of expansion, signing an agreement with ad Astra and Full Fun as the newest members of their poker network. The network is already up and running for the French market, a joint collaboration with Microgaming’s software behind it. By joining together, Microgaming and 888.com ensure a higher liquidity among players, an attractive point that spreads out the competition and attracts new members well. 888.com has surpassed many of their competitors with their relatively quick acquisition of a license to operate in the newly liberalized internet gambling market in France, securing operator rights by the Autorité de Régulation des Jeux En Ligne (ARJEL), the French gaming regulator. Their ability to already launch online poker sites puts them way ahead of other firms looking to do the same. ad Astra and Full Fun are both existing sites within the French demographic, already established and a good deal for Dragonfish as they begin their customer quest in the market. ad Astra will be behing the online poker site Poker Subito, while Full Fun operates Poker XTreme. “In newly regulated markets it is important for partners to create a shared pool of liquidity, benefiting customers and assisting in rapidly generating large poker networks,” said the acting managing director for Dragonfish, Gigi Levy. “These agreements will pave the way for others in the pipeline to follow, helping us to build this liquidity and benefit from the opportunities available in the French market.” |
