Poker Stars’ online gambling group had a few headlines this past week, both of which related to major events and excitement catching the attention of the internet casino community. Size is the theme of the month, with Poker Stars determined to win the game, as they launch one of the largest poker television shows to date, calling it appropriately “The Big Game.” Teaming up with Fox television for the new venture, the world’s largest online poker group, Poker Stars has announced the new game, which will feature expensive buy-ins to pay out huge sums of winning jackpots. According to the press release, players interested in participating will have to be willing to shell out a steep $100,000 just to play, allowing them a chance to play No Limit Hold’Em with some of the deepest professional pockets around. The new production is expected to attract some of the most elite poker players in the world, calling players from nosebleed tables at a myriad of online casino groups. Just to spice things up, one “loose cannon” online qualifier will also be included in each episode, giving the ‘regular joes’ of the internet gambling world a small shot themselves. Players interested in the wild card slots will find more information at Poker Stars’ home page, as all will be picked through the internet casino’s free roll tournaments for US and Canadian players. Online qualifiers will run through June 25th. In other big news, Sunday seems to be the day to play for big wins, not only at Poker Stars, but also at their competitor site, Full Tilt Poker. The tournament at Poker Stars’ Sunday Million saw an incredible 9,371 players log on to compete, each buying in for $215. The residual prize pool summed to an impressive $1,874,200, allowing more than 1,300 players to cash in on the evening’s tournament. The jackpot prize went to first place winner ‘tony6733,’ taking home $267,620 for his efforts against the mob. |
