An additional update has become available on last week’s announcement by the online gambling Grand Prive group that they would be changing the software platform for their internet casino programs. Unfortunately for the firm, the newest details do little to improve the industry’s opinion, as it shows yet another facet to the unscrupulous habits that Grand Prive seems to rely on.

Microgaming, one of the leaders of the online gambling world at large, was previously the provider for the group, but in fact was one of the last to know of the change. Additionally, in spite of their involvement in the resolution for last years’ debate over the unpayment of affiliate program, eCOGRA was in a similar position as Microgaming, learning long after the decision was made of such a significant change. A senior executive at Microgaming was questioned for a statement following the internet gambling community’s report on the switch, which found the executive at a loss as he was not yet notified. After a few hours of inquiries, it was confirmed that his company had already been denied access to the site’s operations, and would be shortly working on the termination of their license with Grand Prive.

eCOGRA found themselves in a similar ignorance, despite the Seal of Approval that is displayed on the Grand Prive online casino site. Though it has yet to be confirmed, the removal of the accreditation is all but sure, as at the very least, the switch to a new software system will at the very least mean that Grand Prive will have to prove themselves through the regulations once again. Bet on Soft, the new software provider selected by Grand Prive, does not currently carry any eCOGRA affiliations or approvals.

Though there are few left since the abrupt closure of the affiliate program in 2008, the remaining affiliates were also left unnotified, causing many to wonder just who Grand Prive deemed important enough to give notice to. Still, the online gambling community continues to hypothesize as to why the move is being made in the first place, with no single argument coming out as the most likely. Considering the absence of any statements by Grand Prive management, industry members are free to continue their speculations.
