The changes that have been anticipated with the liberalization of the French online gambling market are flooding in now that the vote has sent the bill on for final ratification. Among them is the introduction of the French language versions on a number of internet gambling websites, as well as The Poker Channel, operated and owned by Gaming Media. The new French Poker Channel will be the first of its kind for the region, with the official launch scheduled for June 8th, 2010.

The new channel will bring the Poker Channel line-up to an expanded audience, as it will be available for broadcast in 22 million television homes in more than 28 countries. The new service will bring it to 4 million subscribers in France alone, and an additional expansion to other television providers is planned by September, for an additional 5 million users. For now, the launch networks will include of Numericable, Freebox (the TV service from Iliad Group), Neufbox (SFR) and Bbox (Bouygues Telecom).

The Poker Channel is one of Europe’s – and the world’s – most popular sources for live television coverage of the biggest events in the online gambling world. The World Series of Poker, the European Poker Tour and the World Poker Tour are all covered by the Poker Channel, even events besides the Main Event. All of these programs will now be available in French as well as the standard tutorials, daily news updates and more exclusive tournaments, such as the European Cash Game, scheduled for later this year in Paris, France.

The fresh new liberalization is being almost entirely credited with the decision made by online gambling group Gaming Media to launch a French language version. Adjacent to the announcement came the rumors that The Poker Channel is also in talks with a few different online gambling operators to look into developing long term marketing partnerships on exclusive contracts. At least three more countries will see Poker Channel versions designed with them in mind as they year continues: Latvia, Austria, and Monaco will all see updates by the end of June.
