The partnering season is in full swing this April as two more names in the online gambling industry come together to sign a contract in hopes of expanding their dominions. Party Gaming, one of the leaders in the internet casino community, partly because of their rare and friendly demeanor in relation to US players, met up for a final time and signed a deal with PMU, the French company Pari Mutuel Urbaine. The agreement has been reported to span multiple years and will surround the online poker divisions for both firms. PMU is gaining more notoriety in the global scheme of the online gambling world as the French market becomes more liberalized, opening itself up to foreign competitors – and allies such as Party Gaming. Founded in 1891, they certainly have an advantage in terms of age, being the sole and most powerful horse racing company in France, and the largest organization of its kind in all of Europe. Despite economic difficulties the world over, PMU managed to report their 12th consecutive year of growth with the conclusion of 2009, boasting an annual turnover of €9.3 billion. More than 6.5 million customers frequent not only PMU’s 10,000 retail outlet locations throughout France, but a solid €660 million was generated through their internet gambling website last year as well. It’s a vast market that Party Gaming will now have access to. The two companies will use this new partnership opportunity to their advantage, pairing up to create a new online poker site for PMU, and utilizing Party Gaming’s successful platform. The new poker service will be organically integrated into PMU’s existing accounts. The partnership is waiting on final approval for French operation licenses, a stipulation that comes from the fresh liberalization of the internet casino industry in the nation. Once up and running, however, the new poker network will similarly be a great new outlet for player liquidity on Party’s French site, Party Poker.fr. “Today’s agreement with PMU is consistent with our stated strategy of securing a small number of high value partners in regulated markets,” said Jim Ryan, the CEO for Party Gaming. “PMU is widely recognized as one of Europe’s leading betting businesses and we look forward to providing them with a world class poker service.” |
