In many cases, getting in trouble with the law will result in a lesson learned, whether it be in regards to online gambling or not. But just as often, a good thing is hard to let go of, with those perpetuating their old tricks without remember consequences already suffered. One sports betting team in Pennsylvania are back up to no good, once again under fire by local authorities for their continual operation of an illegal online gambling website servicing the east coast sports betting community.

Reports by Philadelphian media this week tell the story of two men out of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania that have been arrested for the second time in relation to illegal Internet gambling. The pair, Joseph V. Mastronardo Jr. (60) and John Mastronardo (54) were still on probation from their last arrests, having pled guilty in 2006 to illegal bookmaking charges. Suspicious activities led police to continue to investigate the men, eventually culminating in a raid on their homes that resulted in more than $2 million in cash being seized, some of it buried in a pipe in the back yard. Computers and records were also seized by authorities, building the case against the pair.

Joseph and John had both previously pled guilty to illegal bookmaking charges, but police, suspicious that they hadn't broken the habit, tapped the phone lines until they had what they needed to justify a raid. Cooperation between agencies was struck between Florida and Philadelphia, with FBI involvement as well. The final straw came in a taped phone conversation, when Joseph was recorded saying, "Times like this, I'm happy I'm still a bookmaker."

Additional evidence was gathered through the enterprise's use of five different cell phones, all of which have been seized. Two confidential informants are also scheduled to testify against the illegal online gambling scheme. The probable cause affidavit filed by police insinuated a sealed shut case, saying, "Our investigation revealed the Mastronardo bookmaking enterprise is substantial, [and] extremely profitable."
