It seems despite the utter display of dominance in the online gambling world, the internet gambling software company CryptoLogic don’t have it all sunshine and flowers this week as one of their subsidiary brands has gotten in a dispute with Marvel. Marvel, a brand most closely associated with the biggest and most recognizable stars of the comic book world, has entered into arbitration proceedings with WagerLogic, a branch division of their CryptoLogic company.

The proceedings have been filed between Marvel Enterprises Inc and Marvel Enterprises B.V. (collectively to be referred to just as ‘Marvel’) against CryptoLogic, utilizing the JAMS Comprehensive Rules in New York City. CryptoLogic has accused the comic book brand with breaches of the agreements signed by both parties when Marvel agreed to have some of their characters featured in games at CryptoLogic online casino sites. The firm has exclusive rights to the characters for the purpose of slots and other internet casino games.

Unfortunately for the press and very interested online gambling community, the details of the argument between the companies have not been released, providing few details, and causing much speculation. WagerLogic claims that ‘material breaches’ were committed in relation to the terms and provisions of the contracts signed last year. They do relate to the use of the comic book characters but for now, additional details of the violations have not become available.

CryptoLogic was able to confirm that they have attempted to resolve the issue amicably without arbitration, but were unable to do so. They say that they were left with alternative to filing the arbitration complaint if they were to continue to protect their licensing rights as well as commercial interests.
