The online gambling community experienced somewhat of an exciting buzz last week with the confirmation achieved from Isildur1 that he would be in attendance of ‘The Big Game,’ a tournament to be broadcast on the television, effectively revealing at last the identity of the mystery player. That story has seen been reneged, as Isildur quickly cancelled the commitment, with what is now being considered a lame back-out, citing only ‘personal issues.’

The Big Game, hosted by the well-loved online casino company Party Poker, had already begun billing his attendance as a means to attract more watchers, and competitors. Tony G, one of the organizers of The Big Game, and himself a personality at the internet gambling website, confirmed the cancellation, speaking about it on his blog. He apparently received a short message from the Swedish enigma, saying only that “Sry for not coming, take care bud.”

The London event will continue as planned, scheduled to begin this weekend. The managing director and event organizer for the Big Game, Eddie Hearn, personally spoke to Isildur following the news that he would not actually be in attendance. Tony G, however, seemed far more perturbed with the change in plans. Many in the online gambling world had been looking forward to the unveiling of the identity of Isildur1, who has been one of the most talked about persons on the poker circuit for months. He has staunchly stuck to his mystery screen name, giving no hints as to who could be the players behind the mask.

"To say I am disappointed is an understatement," said TonyG. "I have spent so much time talking to him and reassuring him recently but he’s just not going to come. We agreed a 50/50 staking deal, it all started out with personal contact and then in recent hours managers/agents got involved as you would expect. It has left a bad taste in my mouth. What you have to understand is that he reached out to me first and asked and then agreed to play. As far as I am concerned I am washing my hands with him and moving on."
